Rhys Velasquez, CGA

Rhys Velasquez (they/she) is a casting director and consultant, having started in the industry as a performer and choreographer after graduating from the Arts Academy, Ballarat in 2013. Rhys joined Malthouse Theatre as the Casting Manager in April 2024. Prior to this, Rhys was the Casting Associate at Melbourne Theatre Company. Rhys' other notable casting credits through their company, Evolution Casting, include Flat Earthers: The Musical (Griffin Theatre Company/Hayes Theatre Co.); In the Heights, Little Women, City of Angels & Bonnie & Clyde (Joshua Robson Productions). Rhys is two-time CGA Award winner, for Best Casting in a Theatre Production for Choir Boy (NTofP) and Best Casting in a Short Film for Black Trans Miracle (Dandy Films). Rhys is a member of the Casting Guild of Australia.
