Tom Wright (he/him) has been writing for the stage since the 1990s, mainly adaptations and translations. His scripts have been produced in twenty countries, from monologues to libretti for opera. Among his works presented by Malthouse are PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK, UBU, THE REAL & IMAGINED HISTORY OF THE ELEPHANT MAN, CRIMINOLOGY, BLISS, ON THE MISCONCEPTION OF OEDIPUS, BAAL (Brecht), WOMEN OF TROY, THE JOURNAL OF THE PLAGUE YEAR, THE GOOD PERSON OF SZECHUAN (Brecht), and OPTIMISM. Elsewhere his works include LORILEI, BLACK DIGGERS, MEDEA, THIS IS A TRUE STORY, THE DUEL, ANTARCTICA, TALES FROM THE VIENNA WOODS (Horvath), ORESTEIA, THE HISTRIONIC (Bernhard), THE RISING WORLD, THE RESISTIBLE RISE OF ARTURO UI (Brecht), MR PUNTILA AND HIS MAN MATTI (Brecht), THE LIFE OF GALILEO (Brecht), THE CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE (Brecht), THE LOST ECHO and THE WAR OF THE ROSES.
He was Associate Artist at Sydney Theatre Company for ten years and is currently Artistic Associate at Belvoir.
